Vee Eight Update - Pre-Canberra
7/6/2000 12:17 (Shane Rogers) - A quick news update as the V8Supercar Pick 10 transporter heads for Canberra – Another RPM chat room this weekend, video coverage of Canberra on the ‘net, an interesting new regulation for the GMC 400, and if you’re heading to Canberra, come and meet us!
Channel Ten’s RPM are again running their superb V8Supercar chat room over the GMC 400 weekend. On Saturday at 5:30pm Eastern, Greg Murphy will be in the chat room with Greg Rust and on Sunday at 5:30pm Eastern, John Bowe will be with Mark Oastler. The chat was huge over the Clipsal 500 weekend, with the only problem being the chat room being limited to only 25 users. We hope they fix that one for this weekend, so everybody can get in and chat to the stars. Go to www.ten.com.au/rpm to get into the chat.
On the subject of chat rooms, don’t forget that gun Formula Holden driver Paul Dumbrell will be on the Australian Motorsport Chat Room Panel Show Panel Beaters on Monday night. Also, I’m hoping to be there live from Canberra. Joining the team this week as a guest also is Aaron Noonan from Motorsport News. Panel Beaters is at v8sp10.nectar.com.au/panelbeaters.
For the people out of reach of TV coverage, don’t forget that www.v8supercar.com.au stream the TV coverage from their website over the course of the weekend.
Those who read the supplementary regulations with intent would notice the addition of a regulation advising teams to monitor the Race Management Channel (RMC), during the course of the GMC 400. One team expressed anger to the V8Supercar Pick 10 Project about another team having “inside information” about when the pace car was going to appear on the track during the Clipsal 500, and it is believed that this rule will alleviate that problem. Knowing when the pace car is about to come out is important, as pitting before it can offer a crucial advantage.
And finally... Come and meet some of your fellow fans at the GMC 400. Matt Crichton has invited all the crew who inhabit the aus.sport.motor newsgroup and the V8SP10 website to meet at the Canberra RSL Memorial and Citizens Club, 13B Moore St Canberra City, a half an hour after the final event’s conclusion on Saturday (The final event finishes at 5:15, which makes it 5:45pm) for a few drinks a meal maybe and a chat about motorsport, Internet, and whatever else. For more information, e-mail Matt at msc@mindless.com. See you there!
