BJR Team Update

Winton Friday Practice - Today’s 90 minute session was used as both practice and testing with both OzEmail Falcon’s undergoing a number setup changes during the extended period. Coming out on top today was team owner Brad Jones, who set the 8th fastest time of the day. Team mate John Bowe struggled with grip but was still capable of a top 15 position.
In very chilly and overcast conditions, both drivers complained that getting heat into the tyres was almost impossible. In a cold environment, race tyres will wear very quickly and the OzEmail Falcon’s suffered from this during the session.
There was two tenths of a second separating the two with Brad’s time - 1:25:14 and John’s - 1:25:34

“I’m actually pretty up beat after today. My car felt really good even with the lack of grip we had with the tyres and the cold conditions. I set my fastest lap early on in the session and I was able to almost repeat the time towards the end, so you would have to think that we have a pretty good setup. It’s nice to be at the pointy end and I’m looking forward to seeing how the rest of the weekend pans out.

“Brad did a great job today and I wish I could say the same. We had the same lack of grip as he did but both me and the engineers didn’t get on top of it at all. We’re going to have a big talk tonight and we’ll be back tomorrow in better shape.”
