Ellery Primed And Ready To Go
18/7/2004 22:58 (Press Release) -
With his Super Cheap Auto Racing Falcon repaired after a massive first
lap shunt at the Queensland 300, Steven Ellery is pumped and ready for a
good result at the seventh round of the 2004 V8 Supercar Championship at
Winton Motor Raceway next weekend.
The collision which saw Ellery standing on the sidelines for the entire
280 kilometre race at Queensland Raceway two weeks ago caused damage to
the front chassis rails of the Super Cheap Auto Racing Falcon.
With sponsor commitments the day following the collision, the crew from
Super Cheap Auto Racing immediately went to work stripping the #31
Falcon before it was loaded onto a tilt-tray and taken directly to the
panel beaters located close to the team headquarters on the Gold Coast.
According to Super Cheap Auto Racing Team Manager, John McLean the #31
Falcon returned to the workshop last Tuesday where the team have
commenced preparations for the 100 lap race at Winton Motor Raceway.
"The car is back together and ready to go," McLean said, "the damage to
the front chassis rails has been repaired along with the other panel
damage which was sustained at Queensland."
"The crew suffered a bit of a set back waiting for parts, however now
they have arrived and we can focus on more improvements at Winton and
make the most of recent developments which hope to increase the speed of
the Super Cheap Auto Racing Falcon."
With the #31 Falcon repaired Super Cheap Auto Racing driver, Steven
Ellery is also in a better physical condition after undertaking a
different training program over the last two weeks to compensate for the
match fitness lost as a result of being unable to complete the
Queensland 300.
"I have altered my training schedule considerably over the last two
weeks to try and make up for physical fitness which was lost as a result
of being unable to compete," Ellery stated, "so I will go to Winton
fitter, leaner and hungrier."
Winton Motor Raceway is one of Ellery's old stomping grounds with the
Super Cheap Auto Racing driver growing up in Victoria, something which
he believes will provide him with an edge during round seven of the 2004
V8 Supercar Championship.
"Winton is my old home track and I have completed many miles around the
circuit which should work in my favour," Ellery commented.
"Winton is a very finicky track and a lot of the Victorian teams who
test at the circuit get confused when what worked last week doesn't work
on race day which in some cases can provide us 'outsiders' with an
advantage."
Ellery finished 25th at Winton last year and battled through the 100 lap
race with an engine misfire.
