
Actron Air Racing Team Look For Home Ground Advantage

The PCR/Actron Air racing team will be looking to capitalize on a home ground advantage when they take to Queensland Raceway for round five of the Konica Minolta V8 Supercar Series this weekend.
The fifth round of the Konica Minolta Series will be held in conjunction with round six of 2004 V8 Supercar Championship Series and is the second time this year the two V8 Supercar categories have appeared on the same race program.
The 3.12 kilometre Queensland Raceway circuit is the Gold Coast based team’s nominated test track which they have undertaken some comprehensive testing this year with the support of V8 Supercar drivers Mark Winterbottom and Greg Ritter.
Both drivers have attended various test sessions to assist drivers Kevin Mundy and Marcus Zukanovic with driver technique and the setup their Ford Falcon AU’s.
Looking to further improve on his recent qualifying results Kevin Mundy said he will be going all out to go one better at Queensland Raceway and snare pole.
“If there was ever a track I should be on pole this is it,” Mundy said. “The car is fantastic and I know it belongs at the pointy end as we qualified second at Eastern Creek.
“We have been very fortunate to have Mark Winterbottom and Greg Ritter on hand at our test days this year, the advice from both drivers has been invaluable it has really helped me with qualifying.
“I have never been very good at qualifying usually sitting around the bottom of the top ten but this is our home test track so lets hope I can go one better than Eastern Creek and take pole position.
Twenty-four year old Marcus Zukanovic has also been leaning on Mark Winterbottom for advice the two became close friends when competing together in karts in 1999.
Winterbottom has been instrumental in assisting Zukanovic reach the fitness levels required to race a V8 Supercar.
“Mark has been fantastic in helping me in my first year in the Konica Minolta Series,” Zukanovic said.
“I am now training four times a week at the gym with Mark and we also go on regular rides on our mountain bikes.
“I really can’t thank him enough he is always willing to give me advice prior to testing and each Konica Minolta Race.
The Konica Minolta V8 Supercars will appear on all three days of the event from July 2-4.
