2004 Chance Of A Lifetime Is Coming To Qld Raceway
2/7/2004 19:07 (Press Release) -
Queenslanders who have dreamed of motor racing stardom will have the chance to prove their track skill and potentially win the opportunity to climb the ladder to racing success when the Chance of a Lifetime competition comes to Queensland for the first time in September.
The 2004 Chance of a Lifetime competition is set to go national this year and Queensland will be the first leg of the contest which will see more drivers taking part than ever before.
The competition has been based in New South Wales since its inception four years ago but 2004 heralds a new era as Chance of a Lifetime goes national with the opening round to be run at Queensland Raceway in September this year.
Chance of a Lifetime is a great way for motor racing hopefuls to get out on the track and show their skills, battling with other contestants for the chance to give their racing careers a real boost.
Entrants will be competing for either a full season in the Mopro Cup, the Aussie Legends Championship or the pinnacle of the competition, a two season package consisting of a Kumho Tyres Lotus Trophy drive followed by a seat in the Konica Minolta V8 Supercar Championship.
The competition is split into three levels each representing a different category of racing, with participants able to choose a level that best suits their own goals as well as their driving styles, creating a competition that has something for everyone.
Level one is known as the Experienced level and the prize will consist of the Lotus Trophy and Konica Minolta drives, level two or Intermediate level is the Aussie Legends and level three, the Novice level will encompass the Mopro Cup.
The Experienced level competition will take place on September 28 and cost entrants $2990, the Intermediate level on September 29 for $1990 and the Novice level will cost $990 and hit the track on September 30.
For these fees each driver will get a minimum of 35 laps in a fully prepared race car, with 15 practice laps followed by 20 timed laps racing against the clock to set the fastest time, those who make it through to the final round can look forward to around 100 laps on the track.
In the past the competition has been held solely in New South Wales with entrants having to make the trek from their respective states to take part but with this opening up of the competition more drivers will be able to try their luck than ever before.
But it will not be any easy path to victory with the competition taking in two stages.
The first will take place at a state level, as will be seen at Queensland Raceway, from there the successful drivers will progress on to a national final to be held in Sydney in December.
“The Chance of a Lifetime competition gives drivers from all backgrounds and all degrees of racing experience the opportunity to get out on the track and show what they can do,” said Paul Pickett from Mopro Australia.
“It gives drivers a real chance to pursue their racing dreams without the costs that stop so many hopefuls,” he said.
The Chance of a Lifetime team will be present at this week’s Queensland 300 with the team having drivers in the Aussie Legends Championship, Formula Fords, their own Kumho Tyres Lotus Trophy and the Konica Minolta V8 Supercars in what will surely be an action packed weekend.
For those interested in taking part in the Chance of a Lifetime competition pay a visit to the Lotus Marque for all the relevant information and to make a booking.
As well as this the Chance of a Lifetime girls will be present at the track ready to point people in the right direction.
