Stone Brothers Racing Test Away At Queensland Raceway

Defending V8 Supercar Champions Stone Brothers Racing completed their third test day of the year at Queensland Raceway today with a rewarding result.
In clear but chilly conditions Pirtek Racing Falcon driver Marcos Ambrose completed a total of 120 laps throughout the day while his teammate Russell Ingall also made the most of the test day completing a similar amount of laps in his Caltex Havoline Falcon.
“For the third time this year we have come away from a test day with a great sense of achievement,” said team owner Ross Stone.
“The guys put in some really good lap times towards the end of the day when the circuit traditionally gets faster.
“As we have found out in the past though it is one thing to be quick on a test day but it is another to be the pacesetters on race weekend, the conditions change so much at this track you really have to be right on the ball.”
Throughout the day Ambrose and Ingall were joined by Cameron McLean and Greg Ritter who will be a part of the team for the endurance races later this year.
During last year’s endurance races Ambrose and Ingall drove in the same car however it is likely that the pair won’t line up alongside each other again this year.
This was the second test day that Ritter and McLean have been a part of with the team. At this stage the driver pairings for the endurance races at Sandown and Bathurst are yet to be finalized but will be announced shortly.
McLean is currently equal second in the Konica Minolta Championship and is looking forward to being a part of the SBR outfit during the endurance races.
“It will be great to be a part of a top level team for the endurance races,” said McLean.
“The team is great to work with and I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the car at Sandown.”
Although he is without a full-time drive in the V8 Supercar Championship this year Ritter has enormous experience in the endurance races with five starts under his belt at the famous Mount Panorama circuit.
“To be a part of the SBR outfit for the endurance races is an exciting opportunity,” said Ritter.
“When I sit on the sidelines watching the V8 rounds on TV it just makes me hungry to get amongst the action, I am looking forward to proving myself in a top level car at Sandown and Bathurst.”
McLean and Ritter have previously been teammates at the Bob Jane T-Marts 1000 finishing fourth in 2002.
The next round of the V8 Supercar Championship will be held at Queensland Raceway on July 3 and 4.
