Dynamik Reflex Gives An Edge

11/6/2004 11:10 (Press Release) - Team Dynamik’s reflexes will give it the edge in this weekend’s V8 Supercar Series round in Perth. The recently-resurfaced Barbagallo circuit will create a headache for every V8 team this weekend – they can throw data from past Barbagallo races out the window.

Notorious for its slippery nature, the 2.4km track has just received a new hotmix coating, substantially different from the previous surface.

Team Dynamik drivers Simon Wills and Dale Brede inspected the track on Thursday. Wills expected the surface to provide more traction for Round 5, from 11-13 June.

“It looks like it’ll have plenty of grip. It’s smoothed out a lot and is all you’d expect of a new surface but we’ll see how the racing goes,” he said.

“It will be a whole new ball game for every team – you can forget about the data from previous years so it will depend a lot on how quickly your team reacts in qualifying and racing.

“I think our performance last year showed that Team Dynamik has the ability to react pretty quickly to all situations and this should put us in a good position for the weekend.”

Qualifying will again be critical – an area where Team Dynamik has done excelled this year.

Wills in the Roadships car #44 has made three of four Top Ten shootouts in 2004, and qualified sixth here last year. “We’ve shown that we have the race pace, all we need now is to put it all together,” he said.

Dale Brede will take on Barbagallo for the first time this weekend, eager to do well in the Roadships car #45.

“The corners seem long and flowing and it should be good fun to drive,” he said.

“This weekend I’ve got to come out of the box hard and show good pace through all parts of the weekend – qualifying and racing,” he said.

This weekend’s format is three 100km races, with qualifying and one race on Saturday and two on Sunday.
