Super Cheap Auto Racing Travels To Four States In Three Weeks

7/6/2004 13:38 (Press Release) - Team members of Super Cheap Auto Racing will breathe a sigh of relief when they arrive in Perth for round five of the 2004 V8 Supercar Championship with the team fulfilling the demands of a hectic competition schedule which will see them visit four states in three weeks.

After Steven Ellery campaigned the #31 Super Cheap Auto Racing Falcon in Darwin a fortnight ago the transporter arrived back at the team headquarters on the Gold Coast half a day before other Queensland based competitors.

Once back in the workshop the Super Cheap Auto Racing crew packed Luke Youlden’s #30 Falcon into the same transporter and less than 12 hours later the truck commenced the journey to Eastern Creek in New South Wales.

After a test day mid week, yesterday the Super Cheap Auto Racing transporter once again left Queensland for Western Australia and is expected to arrive in Perth on Wednesday.

Super Cheap Auto Racing Team Manager, John McLean is singing his praises for his small but dedicated crew who have competed in two race meetings, performed a test day and travelled to four states in less than three weeks.

“It would be fair to say our hectic transport schedule commenced at the start of May, with Steven Ellery’s Super Cheap Auto Racing Falcon arriving back to the workshop from New Zealand the day before it left to go to Darwin,” McLean states.

“The weekend after Darwin was round four of the 2004 Konica Minolta V8 Supercar Championship with a number of staff making their way to Sydney to help Luke Youlden maintain his series lead.

“Being a small team, the same transporter is used for the V8 Supercar and Konica Minolta Series, compared to bigger teams who use different transporters and staff for each series.

“If two race meetings within a week of each other weren’t enough for Super Cheap Auto Racing, Steven Ellery also had his third test day since the start of the championship in March. So all up it has been quite an eventful two weeks.”

Super Cheap Auto Racing Driver, Steven Ellery will benefit from the test day which has seen a couple of the problems which have plagued him through the opening of the season resolved.

“While the transporter and a number of crew where travelling across the country, it was good to have the #31 Super Cheap Auto Racing Falcon back in the workshop and repaired properly from the crash at New Zealand,” Ellery said.

“I am feeling quite positive going into Perth with some gains made in a number of areas during testing, which should really help my performance on the weekend.”

Round five of the 2004 V8 Supercar Championship is at Barbagallo Raceway on the 11 – 13 June 2004.
