CAMS charges more drivers
2/5/2000 19:57 (Press Release) - Craig Lowndes wasn't the only driver to wear the wrath of CAMS officials on the weekend. In the aftermath of Round 4 of the Shell Series at Eastern Creek, CAMS imposed the following penalties:
FRIDAY PRACTICE:
**Pre Qualifying saw Chris Smerdon, Car 39, guilty of a breach of the refuelling regulations. A reprimand was imposed for this infringement.
SATURDAY PRACTICE/QUALIFYING:
**Jason Bargwanna, car 35, was found to have breached Rule 2.3, of Appendix 2, of the V8 Supercar Regulations, by passing the chequered flag twice. A fine of $500 was imposed.
**Allan Heath, driver of car 500, was found guilty to the breach of Rule 11.6.4 (Conduct Prejudicial). Mr Heath was issued a reprimand.
SUNDAY RACES 1, 2 & 3:
**Anthony Tratt, car 75, was fined $500 passing the chequered flag twice at the conclusion of the warm up session.
**An inquiry was conducted into an incident between Steven Ellery, car 31 and Steve Reed car 23, during Race 1. Steven Ellery was found guilty of careless driving and had a fine of $2000 imposed on him. This fine is to be suspended for a period of 3 months on condition that he does not commit a similar breach during that time.
**An incident involving Craig Lowndes, driver of car 1 and Paul Radisich, car 18, which resulted in Radisich spinning during race 3, was reviewed by the Stewards. Craig Lowndes was found guilty of breaching regulation 11.8.2 of the V8 Supercar Regulations, careless driving and received a penalty of a deduction of 15 Championship points.
**A preliminary inquiry was also conducted into an incident involving Craig Lowndes, car 1 and Craig Baird, car 4, during race 3. This inquiry will be concluded at the next round of the Championship in Hidden Valley.
**An inquiry was also conducted into an incident between Paul Morris, car 29 and Larry Perkins, car 11, during race 3. After investigation of this incident, the Stewards determined that no further action was warranted.
