TKR Looking For 'Top End' Power In The Top End
21/5/2004 20:49 (Press Release) -
Team Kiwi Racing will be looking for "top end" power from their engines at the fourth round of the Australian V8 Supercar Championship in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia.
Known affectionately as the "top end" of Australia, Darwin always puts on a great show for the V8 Supercar Teams with the whole community getting behind the event.
With temperatures in the 30 degrees plus range, driver fatigue and fitness always play's a major role at this event.
With Qualifying, top ten shoot out and race one being a 50km race on Saturday and two 100km races on Sunday, the teams will be very busy as usual.
"We are looking for a little more top end speed so we can hold our own on the 1.1km front straight and not get passed like we did in the dry at Pukekohe Park Raceway on the back straight"
"I know we will be quick through the more technical back sections of
the track at Darwin but we need to ensure what gains we make on the
back section of the circuit are not all handed back to our competition as we hit the three quarter marker down the long 1.1km front straight". Says Craig Baird.
TKR go into the fourth round of the Australian V8 Supercar
Championship in sixth position knowing as does every other team in
this Championship, that money aside, to run this high up in such a
competitive class you need everything to go your way to stay there.
