R4 RACE 1 - Skaife from start to finish
30/4/2000 18:15 (Press Release) - Polesitter, Mark Skaife drove the perfect race to lead from start to finish in the first of three Shell Championship Series races at Eastern Creek today.
Craig Lowndes completed a Holden Racing Team quinella with Garth Tander's Valvoline Cummins Holden in third. The Shell Helix Ford of Paul Radisich was fourth ahead of Russell Ingall in his Castrol Commodore.
The 13-lap race saw little change at the front of the pack with the top ten cars holding their positions from lap two to the end.
The notable drives came from V8 Supercar newcomers, Brad Jones and Paul Morris. Jones pushed his freshly rebuilt Ozemail Ford from 17th to 12th, while Morris' Big Kev Commodore charged from 27th on the grid to finish 15th.
Jason Bargwanna retired before a lap was completed while Paul Weel and Mark Poole had costly spins.
Race two will commence at 1.45pm.
