Dynamik Climbing V8 Ladder

9/5/2004 13:33 (Press Release) - Team Dynamik pushed further up the V8 Supercar series ladder after today’s Placemakers V8 International at a damp Pukekohe Park Raceway in New Zealand.

Team Dynamik’s Simon Wills kept his nerve on a difficult day for racing, finishing 15th, 12th and 15th in today’s three 36-lap races.

He collected 114 points today pushing his Series total to 216 points, up three places to 22nd position. Team mate Dale Brede is in 32nd position, with 48 Series points.

Marcos Ambrose leads the V8 Supercar Series from Steven Richards and Greg Murphy.

Wills felt that the Team was now showing consistency in results, even when the car speed was ‘off’ “The positives for this round were that we got points, and we’ve got a straight car,” he said.

The Roadships car 44 battled bravely at Pukekohe, with Wills driving to hold position from faster cars on a day of intermittent rain.

“I was just hanging onto position in the last race today – I drove every lap like it was a qualifier,” he said.

Team Dynamik’s Dale Brede felt that he was close to race pace in the Roadships #45 car.

“I’m running closer and closer to Simon’s pace, which is what I’m looking for,” he said.

Brede finished 31st, 32nd and 32nd in today’s three races.

“Now I’ve just got to put the rest of it together, and work on the qualifying.”

Team Dynamik’s qualifying was not as strong this weekend - Wills qualified in the top 10 for both rounds 1 and 2 this year.

But Wills believes the Team will continue to build on this round’s result at round 4 in Darwin, from May 21-23.

“We know we have the potential to do well at Darwin – we finished sixth there last year and should run well on a dry track.”

The two Team Dynamik VY Commodores will be shipped to Brisbane later this week, before being trucked to the Top End.

Some 76,000 Pukekohe fans received their full menu of V8 racing this weekend, after all three races were completed today after yesterday’s washout. Almost 70mm of rain fell on Saturday, at one stage threatening to flood the pit garages.
