How Do You Fix A Car In Less Than 90 Minutes?

1/5/2004 6:30 (Press Release) - With a hell of a lot of help!

Just ask Super Cheap Auto Racing Driver, Steven Ellery with every single member of his team pitching in to fix the #31 Falcon after it slammed into a tyre wall during the second practice session for the PlaceMakers V8 International at Pukekohe Park in New Zealand today.

Ellery was saved from injury by the safety barrier which caught the Super Cheap Auto Racing Falcon before it had a chance to leap into the air and commence rolling.

With both right hand doors and the front and rear guards damaged, Super Cheap Auto Racing completed a superb job and replaced each battle scared panel of the #31 Falcon.

“All I can say is that we have done something right with the people we have hired at Super Cheap Auto Racing with every member in the team making an extra effort to ensure I was on the track in less than 90 minutes,” Ellery said.

“Super Cheap Auto Racing is only a little team and we certainly pride ourselves on being one of the hardest working. Once again we have fought against the odds and came out on top.

“It is certainly humbling when you see people like Kerrie, my wife and Chris the team physio helping the guys by getting body parts out of the transporter. At one stage I even saw Chris with a screwdriver and hammer in hand.”

While it took Super Cheap Auto Racing a full 90 minutes to repair the #31 Falcon, most of the damage was confined to the panels of the car.

“Once the Super Cheap Auto Racing Falcon returned to the pits, myself and the team were relived to see mostly panel damage and all the wheels facing the right way,” Ellery commented.

Ellery qualified 27th for tomorrow’s 36 lap race which marks the official start of Round Three of the 2004 V8 Supercar Championship.

“It is better to be 27th than at the very rear of the field,” Ellery said, “We have made sure that the car is ready to race and it makes me more confident about tomorrow. I will be going out there with a do or die attitude.

“It is the third round of the championship and I still have no points. While there are concerns about the travel schedule between rounds, I can’t afford to take a conservative approach to the race.

“Super Cheap Auto Racing will bounce back from the events of today and record a good run and claim some points for the championship.”
