Adelaide shunt won't stop Jones from making grid
27/4/2000 14:26 (Jason Whittaker) - Brad Jones will make the grid for this weekend's Eastern Creek Shell Series round, despite being a passenger in one of worst accidents seen on the Supercar circuit in many a race weekend.
Jones was involved in a massive shunt on the streets of Adelaide three weeks ago which saw his AU Falcon flipping and spinning on it's roof during Race 1 on Saturday.
However, after working non-stop for much of the three weeks, the team has repaired the car to allow Jones to race this weekend.
"This has been a difficult week," Ozemail Internet Team Manager, Kim Jones, said.
"We did have two days of testing planned before we went to Eastern Creek and this has blown a hole in our schedule," he said.
After suffering extensive damage to body panels and the chassis, the Jones Falcon was placed on a Data Liner chassis straightener on the Monday following Clipsal 500 proceedings, where it remained until the following Saturday.
It was then when the necessary repairs to the roof, quarter panels and roll cage could be made.
The team finished repairs on Monday, and hoped to test the Falcon at Winton during this week.
"It is disappointing because we had made progress at Adelaide and improved our pace before the accident," Kim Jones said.
"We've made some changes to the car as we have made the repairs and hopefully we won't have lost much ground, if any, when we get to Eastern Creek," he said.
