RADISICH POISED TO BREAK THE MURPHY MAGIC

Team Betta Electrical V8 Supercar driver Paul Radisich is out to break Greg Murphy’s three year reign of winning the coveted New Zealand round of the V8 Supercar Series.
2001 saw the first ever championship round of the V8 Supercars to be conducted outside of Australia.
“Nothing would please me more than to stand on the podium in Pukekohe as the round winner for 2004” - said Radisich.
“Pukekohe is my home circuit where I cut my teeth in single seaters”.
“I have had many successes here including the New Zealand Grand Prix”.
“Whilst the Pukekohe circuit looks simple in design, it is both fast and difficult to pass on”.
“With lap times well under the minute, drivers can’t afford to make a single mistake, with the ‘fight’ for the front row grid positions taking on a new intensity and importance” – said Radisich.
“Even though it is quite a short circuit and a very demanding circuit because of its high speed bumpy nature, getting the car set-up to handle these bumps is the key to posting fast times and as the straights are very long, horsepower is another key factor in determining good performance here” – Radisich commented.
“We have three races to compete in over the coming weekends event and with the demanding features of the circuit, reliability is crucial”.
“In reality, there is only one overtaking opportunity and that’s at the end of the back straight where you can out brake your competitors if you’re feeling brave”.
“The team conducted a test day at Queensland Raceway recently, in order to fully prepare the cars for this round of the championship and came away feeling very pleased with what was achieved on the day and having the confidence that both cars will match it with the best of the grid in Pukekohe”.
“I guess we will see yet another record crowd attending this year’s three race event – we Kiwi’s love the V8’s” – Radisich concluded.
