HRT Looking Good With uvex Safety Glasses!

19/4/2004 13:11 (Press Release) - Two key things have changed the way teams have approached V8 Supercar racing
in the past couple of years and they are the greater awareness and
responsibilities associated with Occupational Health & Safety and the added
dangers the crew members' face with the increased requirement of pit stops
during race meetings.

The Holden Racing Team has appointed uvex Safety to the role of Preferred
Technology Partner in eye and head protection, bringing the uvex
manufacturing, technological and motor sport expertise to Australia's most
successful V8 Supercar team. Through product design, research and
development and in-house manufacturing, uvex will share leading edge
technology with HRT, providing superior protection and performance.

Already recognized worldwide through successful associations with Mercedes
Benz, Audi, Ferrari and Masserati, the international motor racing and
automotive manufacturing support and expertise provided by uvex is now
available to HRT.

In announcing the new alliance between Holden Racing Team, Holden Special
Vehicles and uvex Safety Australia, Mr. Andreas Dammann, the Managing
Director of uvex said:

"uvex utilises the advantages to be gained from technology transfer between
sport & safety, incorporating unique advantages into equipment used in
extreme sports such as local and international motor sport, skiing and
cycling. We at uvex are delighted to demonstrate our
corporate goal of protecting people for sport, leisure and in the work
environment."

uvex Safety Australia provides eye and face protection for the HRT personnel
both in the workshop and at race meetings and eye and head wear for the crew
during the vital (and potentially dangerous) pit stop procedures. The red
uvex sunglasses you see the entire team wearing
were specifically selected by HRT from the 2004/2005 high performance range
of uvex sports eyewear.

HRT Team Manager Rob Starr welcomes the support of uvex Safety Australia and
says having a Company like uvex on board is a real confidence booster for
his technical staff.

"The increased reliance on pit stops has put a lot of pressure on the guys
and as we've seen in a couple of cases, put the crews of some teams in
danger. It's great to have uvex with HRT as it's a Company that specialises
in eye and head protection so, the mechanics feel much more confident about
the critically important job they do." Starr said.

uvex has worked closely with the team in supplying the head and eye wear
protective product and will continue to seek feedback to further fine-tune
their range for the very specific needs of V8 Supercar racing in
Australasia.

The results of research and new innovative products, anti-fog and
anti-scratch coatings and testing conducted by engineers in the uvex German
laboratories will be shared with HRT and Holden. The uvex - HRT co-operation
ensures the race team, the manufacturing plants and the OH&S team has the
edge in safety and sports technology.

uvex also supplies safety eye wear to various areas of Holden's
manufacturing facilities and it was the uvex product that HRT driver Todd
Kelly wore on a recent tour of Holden's Elizabeth Factory in South
Australia.
