Wimmer Ready To Rumble As Owen Fills The Hot Seat
19/4/2004 13:04 (Press Release) -
Holden Young Lion, Kurt Wimmer is feeling as fit as a fiddle as he heads into this weekends round of the Konica Minolta series at Winton, Victoria. After his dramatic and jarring exit from the Adelaide round, the Young Lions crew worked around the clock to repair the car and Kurt rewarded this with some excellent test times around Winton last week. He comes to the track searching for his first top ten of the season.
“The car felt great after the Clipsal shunt and I am feeling more confident every time I do another lap.” Stated Wimmer, “Working through the data with John (Faulkner) is an immense help and it’s starting to show real results.”
“In testing last week I really started to use more of the cars potential and do some fairly competitive times. I hope that I can translate that into results when the pressure is on this weekend.”
In his debut for the Holden Young Lions, Steve Owen is no stranger to V8 Supercars and still holds the race record around Winton in the Konica Minolta V8 Supercar Series. He will be stepping into the #46 VX Commodore.
“It is great to get the chance to drive for John and the Young Lions. Hopefully I will use this opportunity to show what I can do to get a top five result and secure the seat for the rest of the season.” Steve said.
“Winton has been a friendly track to me over the last few years. Although I haven’t driven a Supercar since Bathurst last year I still think that it should all come back pretty quickly.”
Steve’s driving CV includes drives at GRM, CAT and Imrie Motorsport in V8’s as well as many other categories.
