Youlden On Alert For Changing Conditions

14/4/2004 22:51 (Press Release) - Super Cheap Auto Racing Driver, Luke Youlden believes that a car setup which caters for the changing conditions of Winton Motor Raceway could determine the winner of the 2004 Konica Minolta V8 Supercar Championship.

Youlden who is currently second in the series, states adapting the Super Cheap Auto Racing Falcon throughout the day of the event to the altering track surface will help him claim valuable championship points.

“Winton is a very finicky track and as the day progresses the track conditions change,” Youlden said, “the team which can successfully adjust their setup to the circumstances will finish on the podium on Sunday afternoon.”

“A strong crew, who can read the conditions and have an intimate knowledge of a car, will help a driver propel up the championship standings.

“It is a track you walk way either extremely happy or just want to forget it. When you consider all of this, you can see why round three is critical to a driver’s championship ambitions.”

Youlden’s approach to the event will see the 26 year old drive with a head beyond his years and avoid any unnecessary risks to the Super Cheap Auto Racing Driver’s position in the championship.

“You need to be patient and not too aggressive when racing around Winton. A hostile attitude while on the circuit will just result in a wash off of speed and a position that doesn’t excite anybody,” Youlden stated.

“It is a tight and twisty circuit and you need a car that turns in and has the ability to negotiate the corners in an affective manner.”

Youlden will be focusing his energy on a controlled drive throughout qualifying and the three races to help reinstate him as leader of the series which is designed for up and coming talent in motorsport.

“A round win would be great, but at the end of the day I am focused on the championship. I am second and I want to get the lead back for Super Cheap Auto Racing,” Youlden noted.

“Coming from Melbourne, Winton is my ‘home’ event and I will be drawing on the support of friends and family to help me put the Super Cheap Auto Racing Falcon back on top.”

Round three of the 2004 Konica Minolta V8 Supercar Championship will be at Winton Motor Raceway from 17 – 18 April 2004. It marks the halfway point of the six round series.
