TKR Move To Eighth In V8 Supercar Championship
14/4/2004 22:13 (Press Release) -
Team Kiwi Racing V8 Supercar Driver, Craig Baird, has driven superbly to finish in ninth position at the rain soaked second round of the V8 Supercar Championship at Eastern Creek Raceway, Sydney.
Following on from strong performances at the opening round of the Championship at the Adelaide Clipsal 500, Baird has backed that up with a 9th position finish at Eastern Creek that now sees TKR move up to 8th position in the overall Championship.
"The Clipsal 500 was the first time I had driven this new ALL BLACK TKR car in full race conditions and I new there was more in both the car and myself as I get to know this new beast a little better"
"The TKR crew did a great job during the pit stops again and the whole team is really enthusiastic with the arrival of the new car and we look forward to continuing the forward momentum at Pukekohe". Says Baird
Team Kiwi Racing have one of if not the smallest budgets in the V8 Supercar Championship yet you would not know it by their recent performances and enthusiasm shown around pit lane.
"We may have a limited budget compare to most teams out their but that is usually the Kiwi way when competing on the international stage, which makes it even more rewarding for all involved when you do well".
"We have what we have and although we continue to look for additional sponsorship we are grateful to those sponsors who have stuck with us during thick and thin". Says Team Owner David John
Team Kiwi Racing will now prepare for the most important race of the season in front of their home crowd at Pukekohe Park Raceway in New Zealand at the end of this month, which is the third round of the Australian V8 Supercar Championship.
