Race Miles Tune Dynamik Data Bank
4/4/2004 8:31 (Press Release) -
Previous ‘race miles’ at Eastern Creek give Team Dynamik a great podium chance in Sunday’s round 2 of the V8 Supercar series. Team Dynamik has collected more data about the 3.93km western Sydney layout than any other track on the Supercar roster – the Team’s two cars raced there twice in its 2003 debut year.
Simon Wills, driver of The Holy Grail car 44, believes this information will give Team Dynamik a real chance in Sunday’s 300km race.
“We’ve got the car speed and the race miles here, now we just have to back it up with the complete racing package,” said Wills.
“Gradually we’ve been knocking off the little bits and pieces of negative performance – now we know we have a car capable of a front-row start,” said Wills.
Qualifying results so far in 2004 back that claim, with a third-fastest qualifying time at the Clipsal 500 thwarted by braking mishaps in the later Top Ten shootout.
Wills said the Team was confident it had solved these brake temperature issues, which were creating problems in shootout laps and at the first corner off the race grid.
Dale Brede, driver of The Holy Grail car 45, was also focused on an all-round Team Dynamik performance at Eastern Creek.
“I feel good about the weekend,” he said. “I know I’ve just got to do the job for the boys and get some points,” he said.
While Brede may not have been in a Team Dynamik VY last year, he has raced Konica Series V8s around Eastern Creek.
“We’ve got some good team data here, and I think the car’s going to come up really well,” he said.
In its first qualifying session at Eastern Creek in March last year, the two Team Dynamik cars came in fifth and 12th fastest. Wills backed this up with a solid seventh placing in the 77-lap race.
