
CARRERA CUP RETURNS TO TRACKSIDE IN 2004

All of the Carrera Cup action in Australia will be telecast on Trackside on Network Ten, ‘Australia’s home of motorsport’ in 2004 starting this Sunday at 2pm.
The successful partnership between the Australian Carrera Cup and Trackside producer’s RedMax Entertainment will continue this year, with all rounds of the all-Porsche series set to be telecast on Trackside.
Last year the Trackside episodes that featured the Carrera Cup rounds reached a national audience of close to three million viewers.
In 2004, all nine rounds of the Australian Carrera Cup will be comprehensively covered by Trackside host Greg Rust, commentator Mark Oastler, pit reporter Tim Hodges, as well as a host of V8 Supercar drivers as guest commentators.
This Sunday at 2pm Trackside will feature the excitement and drama of round one of the Carrera Cup at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide, with Cameron McConville providing expert comments.
The Australian Carrera Cup will be telecast on the following episodes of Trackside in 2004:
March 28, 2pm – Round 1, Clipsal 500
April 18, 2pm – Round 2, Eastern Creek
May 30, 2pm – Round 3, Hidden Valley
June 27, 2pm – Round 4, Barbagallo
July 11, 2pm – Round 5, Queensland 300
August 1, 2pm – Round 6, Winton
September 19, 2pm – Round 7, Betta Electrical Sandown 500
November 7, 2pm – Round 8, Bob Jane T-Marts 1000; Round 9, Lexmark Indy 300
For New Zealand viewers, all rounds of the Australian Carrera Cup will be featured on the Shell Helix Motorsport program on TV One (2004 schedule to be advised), which is telecast on Sundays from 3pm to 6pm. Close to one million viewers tuned into the episodes which featured Carrera Cup in 2003.
The Carrera Cup is the most successful ‘one make’ championship in the world with Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars built by Porsche’ racing arm in Weissach, Germany competing throughout the nine-round series in Australia. All cars have a top speed in excess of 300 kilometres per hour with a 400-horsepower, 6 cylinder Boxer engine which revs to 8000 RPM.
