THE ULTIMATE MOTORSPORT DAY OUT AT INDY

26/3/2004 20:20 (Press Release) - Stone Brothers Racing is the toast of V8 Supercar racing at the moment, and one lucky fan will have the opportunity to be a team member during this year’s Lexmark Indy 300 on the Gold Coast from October 21 to 24.

Stone Brothers Racing driver Marcos Ambrose (Pirtek Racing) is the reigning V8 Supercar champion and winner of last weekend’s Clipsal 500 in Adelaide. Team mate Russell Ingall (Caltex Havoline Racing) was the victor of the Gillette V8 Supercar Challenge at Indy, as well as the Queensland 300 last year.

Now all adult four-day grandstand ticket buyers, who purchase their tickets between April 1 and June 30 through Ticketek, will go into the draw to win ‘The Ultimate Motorsport Day Out’ courtesy of Gillette, Stone Brothers Racing and the Lexmark Indy 300.

‘The Ultimate Motorsport Day Out’ on Saturday October 23 includes:

• Watching race one of the Gillette V8 Supercar Challenge with Stone Brothers Racing in Duracell Pit Lane;
• Meeting Marcos Ambrose and Russell Ingall before and after the race;
• Walking the race grid prior to the start of the Gillette V8 Supercar Challenge;
• Receiving a year’s supply of Gillette shave product – Mach 3 Turbos and blades, Gillette series shave gels, antiperspirants, after shave gels and body spray;
• Receiving team and event kit to wear at the Lexmark Indy 300 including Gillette shirt and cap, Stone Brothers Racing shirt and cap and Lexmark Indy 300 shirt and cap.

The winner will experience the Gillette V8 Supercar Challenge within metres of 260km per hour action, being part of adrenalin-charged pit stops and overseeing the strategy towards victory.

In 2004 the Lexmark Indy 300 will be headlined by the Gillette V8 Supercar Challenge – Round 11 of the V8 Supercar Championship Series, and the Lexmark Indy 300 – Round 14 of the Champ Car World Series.

Lexmark Indy 300 General Manager James Ashworth said the prize will be a great incentive for fans to book their seats early.

“Stone Brothers Racing has set the standard in V8 Supercar racing over the past year, and is one of the most popular teams in Australia especially in Queensland where they are based,” said Ashworth.

“We thank Stone Brothers Racing, drivers Marcos Ambrose and Russell Ingall, and Gillette for allowing us to provide this prize. It will certainly create enormous interest.”

Ambrose said he was looking forward to racing on the tight Surfers Paradise street circuit and achieving an elusive first home win.

“I love racing on street circuits especially the challenging one here on the Gold Coast,” said Ambrose. “One of my aims this year is to win in Queensland and I’d love to do it at Indy. I saw the reception that Russell received when he won last year – it was enormous.

“It will be great to provide a fan with the winning experience as well. The prize winner will have an awesome time – there is no better place to watch the action then with the team in Pit Lane where emotions are running high and you can fully comprehend what goes into getting a car on track and over the finish line.”

Tickets for the Lexmark Indy 300 are now on sale through Ticketek on phone 1300 303 103, via www.ticketek.com.au or at any Ticketek agency. Adult prices start at just $29.00 for a Thursday General Admission ticket, while a Four Day GA ticket will cost $145.00. Four Day Grandstand tickets start at $205.00. (A Ticketek Booking Fee of $3.20 applies on all pre-paid ticket sales. Prices include GST)

STONE BROTHERS RACING PROFILE

Stone Brothers Racing is the champion team in the Australian V8 Supercar Championship Series with driver Marcos Ambrose claiming the 2003 crown – the first for both driver and team since its establishment in 1998. SBR has continually developed the team over the past six years at its Yatala base, building up an enviable record of on-track results, attracting major sponsorship and a huge fan base, and progressing the careers of talented drivers. All of the hard work of this family-oriented and Gold Coast-based team paid dividends in 2003 with SBR dominating the V8 Supercar Championship Series. Not only did Ambrose win the championship, SBR was victorious in eight of the 13 rounds, achieved 12 race wins out of 22 races, had a car on pole position in five of the 13 rounds, and won the V8 feeder series, the Konica V8 Supercar Series, with young gun Mark Winterbottom (now at Orrcon Racing).
