Howard Racing Gaining In Performance

20/3/2004 20:14 (Press Release) - Howard Racing continued to improve their performance at Adelaide’s Clipsal 500 this weekend. Race One was conducted under fine hot, nearly perfect conditions on Friday. The Howard Racing Team did well and were very pleased with their performance overall.

“It’s looking good for us for the rest of the year,” said McLean driver of car 27. Race two, Cameron McLean showed he is fast becoming the driver to watch in this series, with an outstanding performance.

“I experienced a good start and felt competitive in the car right from the start” - said McLean.

“The car is certainly performing well and the team has done a great job in getting us here in such a well prepared state” - he said.
“I had a long battle with Mathew White in Car 28 for most of the race managing to avoid the drama in lap 2 which took out several cars. White and I had our own battle for the balance of the race”.

“I managed to hold him out until turn 9 on lap 8, however he managed to get past me on the corner, after which I kept with him but couldn’t manage to pass White again. We were both able to gain on race leader Owen Kelly in car 71.

Tim Gordon driving the First State Howard racing AU Falcon experienced problems on the same turn 9, when he locked brakes entering the corner, resulting in the loss of several places.

“I’m not sure what happened, but it wasn’t major and I was able to stay in the race,” - said Gordon.

Mark Howard, driving the Howard Racing car 37 had a great weekend, commenting - “I was pleased with my performance today, and feel I’m continuing to improve with each outing“.

The car handled the hot conditions today very well and I was able to gain several places to bring it home in 14th position. Overall I am pleased with our team’s performance at the Clipsal event here in Adelaide. It has been a good weekend for us and it’s encouraging the way the crowd gets behind us here” – Howard concluded.
