Castrol Perkins motorsport pipped out of Top 10
20/3/2004 7:35 (Press Release) -
Castrol Perkins Motorsport has finished 12th in Qualifying for this weekends Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.
Steven Richards was disappointed when he was held up by another driver as he was completing his fast lap, as the session was coming to an end.
Going on the data from the car, the lap was looking to be a high 1 minute 21 time which would have put him into a top 2 position, but coming onto the straight he was confronted with another driver sideways and had to abort the lap.
"I am very disappointed not to be in the top 10. The car was great and we had just set the car up for a flying lap and my dash was telling me I was in for a good time, then coming out of the last corner I found a car in front of me and had to abort the lap" said Steven.
Steven finished with a time of 1:22.673 and will start tomorrow's race from the 6th row.
Paul Dumbrell was next with a time of 1:23.947 putting him into 26th position.
"I had real trouble getting a clear lap, the guys made some changes after the second practice session and the car was fantastic to drive.
The car felt like it had more in it so I am a bit disappointed in the time I did but I am looking forward to the race" said Paul.
Tony Longhurst sat out the session after his crash in Practice 2 but is hopeful of returning to the track tomorrow.
Marcos Ambrose topped the time sheet with a 1:21.936 followed by Max Wilson with a time of 1:22.184
