
McLean qualifies 4th fastest for Konica’s Race One

Howard Racings Cameron McLean driving the teams AU Falcon car 27, looked set to take pole position in Friday’s race one of the Konica-Minolta V8 Supercars event at the Adelaide Clipsal 500.
With only minutes to go McLean entered pit lane to take on a fresh set of tyres, re-entering the circuit with the intention of bettering his previous best time to secure pole position for the first race.
This was not to be exclaimed McLean, “The car felt the best it had all day and my times were dropping with each lap and I was confident I could really nail pole with a new set of tyres in the closing stages” - said McLean.
“Unfortunately I was constantly inhibited by heavy traffic and could not get a good clean run to improve on my previous best lap time” commented McLean.
“Earlier in the practice sessions we were making adjustments to the car in order to improve getting the power down earlier out of the corners and come qualifying the car was certainly achieving a better result in this regard, so much so that I was the fastest car on the circuit until the last ten minutes of the qualifying period” - McLean commented.
“Tomorrow’s race one is the important event for me and I’m confident of being in there with the chance of a podium finish” McLean concluded.
Howard Racings second entry car 37 driven by team principal Mark Howard, steadily improved his times through the first two practice sessions, qualifying his AU Falcon in 18th position for race one.
“I’m improving my times with each event and that’s encouraging, I still have a way to go, however I must say I do enjoy the challenge”- said Howard.
The third entry in the Howard Racing stable, car 83 driven by Tim Gordon performed in a similar manner to that of Howard’s throughout the two practice sessions, qualifying in 23rd. place for tomorrow’s race one event timed to take place at 6.35pm,local time.
