Shane Beikoff Racing Revved Up With Changes For Adelaide

16/3/2004 5:36 (Press Release) - Shane Beikoff Racing will roll into Adelaide next week with continued enthusiasm & an improved V8Supercar, in an effort to climb up the grid for Round 2 of the Konica Minolta V8Supercar Series at Adelaide’s Clipsal 500 Support Races.

After finishing 24th overall at Round 1 at Wakefield Park 2 weeks ago, Shane Beikoff Racing went back to the drawing boards to chase extra corner speed from the team’s new AU Falcon V8Supercar.

The most notable change to the team for the Clipsal 500 races will be to the driver line up. Regular Shane Beikoff Racing driver & Speedway racer Phill Foster will be steering the Dieseltech Springwood AU Falcon V8Supercar for this Round, after competing with the Team at Bathurst last year and selected Rounds in 2002. Foster is excited about the prospect of racing around the 3.22km Street Circuit, stating that a competitive drive in the all-new Shane Beikoff Racing Falcon was too good to turn down.

“This will be the most competitive V8Supercar I have ever raced, and with the full support of Shane Beikoff Racing, I’m sure we will impress a few people in pit lane with the speed of this car,” Foster explained.

“Our sponsors this weekend, which include The Steel Barn, will be expecting a lot from us – in front of the massive crowd the Clipsal 500 draws & with the attention from Level 1 V8Supercar teams looking at what we can do, there’s a huge amount of pressure going into this Round, but I have been working hard at my fitness & know there will be a Top 15 result at the end of the weekend if we keep consistently setting down good lap times & keep away from any trouble from other cars,” Foster continued.

Shane Beikoff Racing have also re-assessed their setup on their new AU Falcon after Wakefield Park’s event, and have found some small setup changes that will make the car more balanced, and produce more grip at critical points on the bumpy Adelaide track. Team Manager Shane Beikoff pointed out the possibility of these setup glitches were known prior to the first Round at Wakefield Park, however changes have been made to the car to correct these faults, which were evidenced in data gathered at Wakefield Park.

“We arrived at Wakefield Park knowing the car wasn’t perfect, however we simply ran out of preparation time prior to this round. Now that we’ve had time to properly assess the settings on the car, we now can begin to fine-tune the car into a more competitive package. It’s a pretty exciting time for us,” Beikoff stated.

The Shane Beikoff Racing AU Falcon will be competing at Round 2 of the 2004 Konica Minolta V8Supercar Series from March 18th – March 20th, encompassing two 24 lap events around the Adelaide Street Circuit.

Shane Beikoff Racing is proudly supported by Dieseltech Springwood, Protec Paints, Tractor & Engine Spares, Turbo Brisbane, V8Supercar Hot Laps, Rebel Signs, Ironfarmers Parts & Equipment, and Sumner Park Smash Repairs.
