Ten has it covered on the streets of Adelaide
25/3/2000 18:45 (Jason Whittaker) - Network 10 has promised to have every angle of this year's Clipsal 500 in Adelaide covered, announcing a feast of live V8 Supercar action from the streets of Adelaide next month.
Network 10 return to Adelaide, home of last year's wildly-successful Adelaide 500, to again deliver eight hours of live action from the streets of the southern capital, right across the country.
For four hours on Saturday April 8 (1-5pm), and another four hours on Sunday April 9 (1-5pm), Ten will cover the V8's first endurance challenge, comprising two 250km races, one each on Saturday and Sunday.
"The great thing about the Clipsal 500 is that Adelaide knows how to stage a major event," said Ten motorsport anchor, Bill Woods.
"The V8's are the formula one of Australian motorsport and as such the event is very competitive and identifiable with the average fan."
"Last year I was amazed at the atmosphere and the intensity of the racing - you can't deny there's non-stop action. In 2000 they say it'll get bigger," he added.
Promising to give viewers the best seats in the house, Ten will frame the action from 26 trackside cameras positioned around the daunting 3.22km circuit. A further 20 lenses will give viewers a drivers-eye view from inside the cockpits of four different racers.
Given the task of bringing the coverage together, Ten Motorsport Producer Murray Lomax said more time will be spent in the pits covering the drama and excitement of the compulsory pit stop.
He also explained that Ten will reposition their cameras on the main straight, taking viewers even closer to the action.
Woods will again lead the on-air team, joining regular V8 race callers Greg Rust, Mark Oastler and Barry Sheene.
The Clipsal 500 begins in Adelaide on April 7.
