ANT Racing Set To Rack-Up Results
16/3/2004 5:02 (Press Release) -
ANT Racing is set to rack-up results in the 2004 Konica Minolta V8 Supercar Series after signing a new season-long sponsorship with Dexion Australia, market leaders in commercial and industrial warehouse storage systems.
The Melbourne team formally launched the relationship at Calder Park on Friday March 12th where they unveiled their AU Falcon's striking new red and white livery which is dominated by Dexion Australia.
Andrew Angus, General Manager of Marketing and Franchise Systems, Dexion Australia announced: "As a result of our research we want to revitalise our market position and this opportunity with ANT RACING fits the bill perfectly. We operate a national franchise system spanning all mainland states so we like the reach that the Konica Minolta V8 Supercar Series provides, and reward opportunities for our franchisees and their customers is available plus team-building across our network will unite our team to take on our competition and increase sales.
"This is an integrated marketing tool that will underpin television advertising to be screened on Network Ten's popular Trackside programme that accompanies the Konica Minolta V8 Supercar Series telecasts. Exposure to a wide audience is important too.
"One of our company's core values is performance and the metaphor with V8 Supercar racing is obvious and Tony Evangelou's results with a limited budget have been impressive, we know he is serious about wanting to move up the grid. We're Number One and ANT RACING will help us strengthen this position."
Team Manager David Page stated: "I am naturally delighted with this, but even more so because it is the sort of deal that "Level 1" teams normally put together in terms of true integration with a company's marketing strategies and objectives. Plus retention of current sponsor Kennards Hire proves our ability to build strong relationships and deliver value to our sponsors."
Team co-owner and driver Tony Evangelou was understandably ebullient: "This is our big chance for the team to move forward and compete on a more level playing field. You are only as good as your equipment and to date we have been learning the V8 Supercar ropes with a package that didn't have the outright pace."
Evangelou added frankly, "I'm not kidding myself about results for this year, our equipment is a vast upgrade from the past but the Konica top ten is predominated by newer cars than our AU (Falcon), however our goal is to put the Dexion Falcon right amongst the action in the top ten and beyond."
ANT Racing previously campaigned a blue VS Commodore at selected Rounds of the 2003 Konica V8 Supercar Series and V8 Supercar Konica Bathurst special race.
2004 sees the upgrade to an ex-Toll Racing (Anthony Tratt) AU Falcon as campaigned in 2001, it was purchased by ANT Racing mid-2003 and progressively rebuilt in-house.
Evangelou was the first national champion of the Saloon Car Series which comprises "formula" Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon six-cylinder cars with grids of over 36. He concluded, "Whilst Saloon Car speeds may be lower, the competition is no less intense, it's a "parity category" so being up the front doesn't come from the cheque book alone, you need to know how to set your car up and wring the most from what you've got. And that's exactly what ANT Racing will be doing when we hit the track for Round Two as part of the
V8 Supercar Clipsal 500 street race event.
Dexion Australia is Australian-owned but traces it roots to post World War II London when its founder invented the slotted angle rack shelving system.
The word "Dexion" comes from the Greek word for "right/correct" and is reflected in the company logo of a "tick in a circle".
ANT RACING draws its name from the Melbourne transport company, A.N.T. Transport, of which Evangelou is proprietor: the three letters being an acronym of the three founders' Christian names.
