McLeod, K-Mart and Castrol come on-board at JFR

23/3/2000 18:57 (Jason Whittaker) - The rejuvenated John Faulkner garage continues to grow in stature, with talented youngster Ryan McLeod and sponsors K-Mart and Castrol all coming on-board for the team's assault on the new V8 Lites Series.

McLeod will pilot a VS Commodore in the new V8 Supercar "feeder" category, beginning at Round 1 of the Series at Eastern Creek Raceway.

"Having a Lites car was a natural progression for the team and I am sure you will see a lot of the other Level 1 teams follow suit," team owner/driver/manager John Faulkner said.

The older-model Commodore, now decked-out in K-Mart/Castrol livery, was driven at Bathurst last year by Paul Dumbrell and Matthew White.

McLeod, who has competed in the Supercar privateer class for a number of years, sees this drive as a major opportunity.

"If I can come away from Eastern Creek with a strong result I am confident that sponsorship for our Bathurst Endurance assault will be made that much easier," the 27-year-old McLeod said.

"The car looks fantastic and the team at JFR always put together a strong, fast and reliable package, so it is all up to me to make sure we finish at the pointy end," he said.

The Konica V8 Lites Series begins at Eastern Creek Raceway this weekend.
