Ellery Hungry For More Success With New Super Cheap Auto Racing Livery
1/3/2004 16:38 (Press Release) -
With renewed energy to win and an improved brutal car design, Steven Ellery is eagerly anticipating the unofficial start of the 2004 V8 Supercar season next weekend at the Australian Grand Prix at Melbourne.
Last year’s standout V8 Supercar team, Super Cheap Auto Racing, enjoyed endurance success at not only the Sandown 500 but Bathurst 1000 where on both occasions the team finished on the podium.
This year, Ellery believes V8 Supercar fans will see similar results as the team relishes the rewards of a development plan established in mid 2003.
“Nothing in motorsport happens overnight and everything we achieved last year was the result of really hard work. Half way through the season we put together a development plan which we knew would position us strongly at the endurance races and it was just a matter of working towards the goal,” Ellery said.
“While our results at Sandown and Bathurst surprised a few people, there was no doubt that everybody in the team believed we could achieve it.”
“This year we are entering the V8 Supercar Championship in the same frame of mind.”
Ellery also has more motivation than ever and wants to feel the same exhilaration he got from podium presentations at Australia’s major motorsport events.
“The fire is back and I certainly want to achieve more. This year I am aiming for more podium positions and even a few race wins here and there. Consistency will also be the key and I believe this year the Super Cheap Auto Racing Falcon has the package to achieve this,” Ellery added.
“If all goes to plan I think the Super Cheap Auto Racing Falcon is capable of finishing the 2004 V8 Supercar Championship in the top 10.”
The Australian Grand Prix will also mark the debut of the new Super Cheap Auto Racing team car livery. The traditional red and purple colour scheme which Ellery campaigned under for a number of years is gone and has been traded in for a new ruthless looking red and black design.
“The car looked good last year, so we decided to use the same design but change the colour scheme to red and black. Overall the new design looks meaner and gives the Super Cheap Auto Racing team more presence on the track,” Ellery commented.
