FPV Opens Its Doors To The Public

25/2/2004 14:30 (Press Release) - Ford Performance Vehicles will open its doors - literally - to the general public for the seventh annual Family Open Day this Sunday February 29. And a major attraction this year will be the official opening of the state-of-the-art new headquarters for Ford Performance Racing, a multi-million dollar facility strategically located within the same premises as Ford Performance Vehicles.

Visitors will be able to witness Ford Performance Racing preparing for the season-opening non-championship races at the Australian Formula One Grand Prix the following weekend, meet the champion drivers, Craig Lowndes and Glenn Seton, and take part in a number of interactive displays.

The new Ford Performance Racing headquarters is designed as a public place where visitors can watch the race team in action throughout the entire season.

It features a relaxed café where visitors can sip on Italian coffee while watching the team strip and rebuild its V8 Supercars between races, as well as a showroom and a merchandise shop where fans can purchase the latest apparel and gifts from Ford Performance Vehicles, Ford Performance Racing and Ford Racing.

During the FPV Family Open Day, visitors will also be able to take guided tours through the Ford Performance Vehicles production facility and see how a high-performance FPV GT is built, as well as see the high-tech Boss Engine line - the only V8 engine factory in Australia.

FPV also expects to attract more than 250 high-performance Fords, from classic GT Falcons of the 1960's and 1970's to the latest XR and FPV models, to be on display from approximately 20 Ford enthusiasts clubs from across Australia.

There will be entertainment for all ages, including a roving jazz band, clown and jumping castle, and on-site catering and refreshments.

FPV anticipates more than 10,000 enthusiasts will attend the Family Open Day and all proceeds will be given to Guide Dogs Victoria.

Entry is by donation and gates are open from 9am to 4pm. The official opening ceremony for the new FPR race centre is scheduled for 11am.

FPV and FPR are located at 33 and 40 Glenbarry Road, Campbellfield, Victoria.
