Garry Rogers Motorsport Opens To The Public

24/2/2004 20:04 (Press Release) - Garry Rogers Motorsport will be holding its 5th Annual Open Day this Sunday, 29th February 2004 at its Glen Waverley workshop in suburban Melbourne.

This is a unique opportunity for fans to come in to the team’s inner sanctum free of charge and meet drivers Garth Tander, Cameron McConville and Nathan Pretty as well as team owner Garry Rogers.

“No matter how many race meetings people attend, and no matter how many books they read, until people actually come and see how things are physically built and maintained, it is hard to get a real perception of how a professional racing team goes about preparing for the full season,” said team owner Garry Rogers.

“GRM is one of the few V8 Supercar teams to do everything in house from fabricating to composites to engine building. We don’t hide anything, so fans can get a true picture of what we are about. They can wander through the workshop and take a look around, as well as have a go at a pit stop wheel change!”

“We pioneered the Team Open Day concept back in 2000, and we know how to make it a great day for everyone. We welcome fans of all teams to come down for an experience that is truly unique.”

The Repco Valvoline Cummins VY Holden Commodores will be on display, as well as the 2002 Bathurst 24-hour winning Holden Monaro, Holden’s Thunder Ute and a sneak peak at some vehicles under construction.

The whole GRM crew will be on hand to conduct the very popular wheel change competition, and give pointers on how it is really done! Fans can chat with the drivers and crew in a relaxed atmosphere, there will be autograph sessions and unlimited photo opportunities.

GRM team merchandise will be on sale, plus a sausage sizzle and regular workshop tours. In addition, fans who join the GRM membership club on the day will receive a bonus Eagle One gift pack valued at $50.00.

The Garry Rogers Motorsport workshop is located at the rear of 350 Springvale Rd, Glen Waverley and will be open to the public from 10 am until 3 pm on Sunday 29 February. For further information, contact (03) 9560 4711.
