Rupprecht Motorsport - V8 Success at Wakefield Park

23/2/2004 2:04 (Press Release) - The three-car Rupprecht Motorsport team has finished the first Round of the 2004 Konica Minolta V8 Supercar Series on a high note, with a first place and some very good top ten results.

“I am tired but happy with our first outing” said Ralf Rupprecht. “This is a new team with three cars and our first Round was always going to be a big test. We had a few dramas getting out there and qualifying wasn’t as sharp as it could have been, but we had a great day on the track today.”

Phil Scifleet, in his rookie season made a big impression. After qualifying his #90 Falcon 15th on the grid, he finished Race 1 in 8th position. Slippery conditions and a shunt from behind put him out of Race 2, but the car was back on the track for race three and he put in a big one; from 22nd position on the grid, he worked his way through the field to finish 5th.

Ralf Rupprecht is pleased with his 23-year-old driver, “Phil did a great job, and the kid was the quickest out there. From rear of the grid to 5th in very wet conditions is a great effort.”

Veteran Mal Rose had an ‘up and down’ day in his #55 Falcon, but a win in the second race of the day was a great boost for the team.

"Race one was a bit of a fizzer, with a few incidents putting me back to 20th, but it set me up for a 1st place in the reverse grid race, so it’s been pretty good day”, said Rose. “The car went well, in fact all three cars ran well all day”.

Adelaide’s ‘mister consistency’ Adam Wallis in car #89 qualified with a disappointing number 22 spot on the grid, but finished 15th in the first race. Race two provided at top ten finish in 6th place, and he rounded out the day with 11th place in Race 3.

Adam is sitting 8th on the Series point score after Round One. “I finished the Round in the top ten so I’m happy with that, especially after I was thumped in race 3 and drove most of the race with a bent steering arm.”
