V8 Supercar Driver Russell Ingall Teams Up With Leading Yamaha Supercross Team

30/1/2004 16:17 (Press Release) - Stone Brothers Racing's Russell Ingall has joined forces with the CDR/Boost Mobile/Yamaha team as a mentor to the riders and to work with the team in a motivational role.

The sport of Supercross has grown over the past couple of years and now sees the same demands placed on Supercross riders that are placed on a V8 Supercar driver.

The CDR/Boost Mobile/Yamaha riders are delighted to have Russell join the team in an ambassador type role.

CDR/Boost Mobile/Yamaha team manager Craig Dack said Ingall's extensive experience competing at the top level of his sport made him the ideal person to mentor his relatively young team.

"Russell is a fantastic driver and personality who has worked hard to stay at the top of his sport.

"In general Supercross riders are used to extensive, hard training but media commitments, autograph sessions and sponsor appearances are a relatively new experience.

"We are extremely grateful to Russell for giving our riders some of his time and expertise and we look forward to having him in the pits for this weekends round," Dack concluded.

The Caltex Havoline Ford driver is no stranger to the pressures associated with high profile motor sport and is excited about his new role.

"As well as racing and training we have sponsor commitments, publicity commitments and a commitment to the fans," said Ingall. "It can be quite an overwhelming job to manage all of this.

"Hopefully with my experience I can give the riders some advice in managing the pressure that the growth of Supercross has placed upon them.

"In return the boys can show me how to pedal my WR450F around a little quicker

"Lets hope 2004 will be a fantastic year for us all.

"It would be great to see the CDR boys take out both the pro lites and pro open championships and a championship for myself and the Stone Brothers Racing team," said Ingall.

The CDR/Boost Mobile/Yamaha are in Brisbane preparing for the third round of the Australian Supercross Nationals at ANZ Stadium on Saturday 31st January.

To kick off this new relationship the CDR/Boost Mobile/Yamaha riders Cameron Taylor, Daniel Mc Coy the injured Troy Carroll joined Ingall for a trail ride in the Ormeau Hills yesterday.
